Actress Chae Min-seo has lost eight kilograms to star in a movie about a vegetarian, press reports said Tuesday.
In the movie titled, ``Vegetarian,'' Chae, 29, who has a thin body normally, plays the role of ``Younghye'' who stops eating meat after experiencing strange dreams.
Chae surprised her fans by revealing that she even received a blood transfusion to help speed up her weight loss.
She was compared to actor Kim Myung-min who lost 20 kilograms to play the role of a Lou Gehrig's disease patient in the movie ``Closer to Heaven.'' He won the best actor prize award at the Blue Dragon Awards last year.
Based on Korean writer Han Gang's short story of the same title, ``Vegetarian'' will be released on Feb. 18.
채민서 영화 출연 위해 8kg 감량
배우 채민서가 영화 '채식주의자'에 출연하기 위해 8kg을 감량한 것으로 알려져 화제가 되고 있다.
평소 마른 몸매인 채민서는 '채식주의자'에서 이상한 꿈을 경험한 뒤 육식을 거부하는 영혜 역을 맡아 열연했다.
그녀는 급격한 체중 감량을 위해 수혈까지 받았다고 공개해 팬들을 놀라게 했다.
채민서는 영화 '내 사랑 내 곁에'에서 루게릭병에 걸려 말라가는 주인공 역을 위해 20kg을 감량한 김명민과 비교됐다. 김명민은 이 영화로 지난해 청룡영화제 남우주연상을 수상했다.
